The purpose of the Indigenous Housing Navigator program is to create easily understood information for indigenous families to inform them about their rights and responsibilities when seeking rental accommodations. It will also assist them in understanding their rights as tenants.

The Navigator will support and educate Indigenous families so that they may locate and secure safe housing including:

  • Assistance in setting up rental appointments;
  • Attend rental viewing appointments;
  • Complete housing applications;
  • Complete BC housing application;
  • Complete Ma’Kola housing application;
  • Assist in securing furniture;
  • Advocate with social development and the poverty reduction Ministry;
  • Advocate with BC Housing, Ma’Kola Housing and other relevant organizations;
  • Liaison and partner with other local and provincial housing advocacy groups.
